Where We Work

For over a decade, CLASP has worked around the world providing strategic technical assistance and support to policy makers for energy efficiency S&L for appliances, equipment, and lighting. CLASP works on the ground in China, Europe, India, and the United States collaborating with policymakers, regulators and their stakeholders alike. Additionally, CLASP works in a worldwide capacity conducting global research endeavors and supporting the Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) initiative in its goal of transforming the global market for efficient equipment and appliances.

CLASP achieves its vision of reducing the environmental impacts of energy-using products through active, open, and inclusive collaborations and partnerships around the world.

    New mandatory energy labels for set-top boxes, printers, and fax machines took effect in China in January 2012 through the technical support of CLASP and the China Sustainable Energy Partnership.

    In the EU there is potential to achieve the EU's energy and climate policy target of saving 147 Mt CO2/year by 2020 through strengthening individual regulations for appliances, equipment and lighting; and improving market verification and enforcement.

    CLASP supported the Government of India in the development of performance, safety, and, quality standards for LED lamps, estimated to save 33 TWh of electricity per year.

    CLASP released preliminary results from testing desktop computers to measure the energy consumption of discrete graphics cards. This project has the potential to impact S&L programs in several countries, including the U.S., Europe, and China.
