OLADE (the Latin American Energy Organization) and CLASP are embarking on their second collaborative virtual training course, Energy Efficiency Standards & Labeling (EE S&L). This course presents a unique opportunity to have the world’s top experts on Energy Efficiency Standards & Labeling gathered as lecturers for one training course.
So far, EE S&L programs have been implemented in more than 50 countries world-wide: first in industrialized countries and – increasingly – in developing countries and emerging economies, including various Latin American and Caribbean countries. In this virtual training course “Energy Efficiency Standards and Labeling (EE S&L),” instructors of outstanding experience in the subject will present the concepts and methodologies to develop and implement energy efficiency standards and labeling programs, as well as case studies of International Best Practice, presenting examples from the United States of America, the European Union, India, Australia and China. Expert instructors from all over the world will familiarize participants with the following topics: - EE S&L: Basic Concepts
- EE Testing Standards & Procedures
- Analyzing and Setting Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS)
- International Best Practice: The role of energy efficiency advocacy in EE standard setting and rulemaking in the USA
- International Best Practice: Alignment of test procedures in North America
- Designing and Implementing an EE Labeling Program
- EE Labeling in the European Union: A case study
- Communications Campaigns for EE S&L Programs
- International Best Practice: Communication campaign for EE labeling in India
- Monitoring, Verification, and Enforcement (MV&E) of EE S&L Programs
- International Best Practice: MV&E of Australian EE S&L Program
This training course complements the previous course “Energy Efficiency Standards and Labeling – Lessons Learned in Latin America” held in June 2009, which focused on experiences with EE S&L programs in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico). Geared toward energy sector employees in Latin America (government entities, standardization agencies, and private companies), the course is also open to engineers, economists, and other professionals with a vested interest in energy efficiency practices in the region. The training begins April 6th, 2010, and ends April 14th, 2010, and marks OLADE and CLASP’s second venture of this kind. We hope that it will serve as a springboard for additional regional collaboration.
