CLASP worked in Uruguay in the early 2000s assisting the World Bank Latin American and Caribbean Region Office, the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), and the Administración Nacional de Usinas y Transmisiones Eléctrica (UTE), Uruguay's national power company, in facilitating the development of a national S&L program and supporting the development of a GEF Full Project Proposal.
Specific tasks accomplished by CLASP, in collaboration with the World Bank Latin American and Caribbean Region Office, GEF, and UTE, in Uruguay included providing S&L project design for S&L program components; developing software tools to facilitate a residential energy consumption survey; conducting market assessment for lighting, refrigeration, air conditioning, washing machines, water heaters and industrial motors; completing impact assessment including greenhouse gas mitigation, energy savings, consumer financial impacts, and tax revenue impacts; assessing the national testing capacity and required investments; and participating in national conferences on energy efficiency.
Funding for CLASP's work in Uruguay came from the World Bank.
