CLASP worked in Argentina in 2007 gathering data for a Global Environment Facility (GEF) Project Brief covering the Design of a Standards and Labeling Program.
This GEF Project Brief was a required part of a $15.2 million grant proposal from the Global Environment Facility Trust Fund to the Republic of Argentina for an Energy Efficiency Project. CLASP’s partners in the effort to study the needs and potential impact of a standards and labeling program in Argentina included Implementing Partner Energy Strategies for Sustainable Development (AES), the Republic of Argentina, and GEF.
Specific tasks completed by CLASP, in collaboration with AES and GEF, in Argentina included gathering product data, laboratory infrastructure, and policy input from stakeholders; directing the collection of key data sources on product markets, macroeconomic parameters, and efficiency metrics; developing efficiency scenarios following international experience and best practices; evaluating national product testing capability; market forecasting; and forecasting of potential national level energy and emissions impacts as a result of implementation of GEF programs.
