CLASP’s Europe team collaborated with international experts and strategic partners in 2010-2011 to provide comprehensive reviews and technical analyses to inform the European Commission’s Ecodesign Preparatory Studies on Machine Tools, Network Standby Losses and Power and Distribution Transformers and continues to provide analytical support to the Commission during the next stages of the regulatory process for these products.

CLASP’s Europe team collaborated with ECEEE in 2011 to carry out analysis and develop proposals to support and strengthen the European Commission’s draft regulation on Directional Lighting, including improvement of labeling schemes for directional lamps and luminaires.

CLASP’s Europe team also carried out research to identify priority products based on their CO2 savings potential, availability of technical experts, place of the product in the policy making cycle, and key issues of strategic importance to achieving effective implementation of policies.
