CLASP’s assistance to the EU S&L community includes best practices information dissemination and technical guidance in support of the development of ambitious product regulations.
Best Practices In line with CLASP’s greater mission, CLASP’s Europe team brings international experience to its network and stakeholders in Europe and shares S&L best practices internationally. CLASP’s Europe team aims to contribute to significantly reducing the energy consumption of appliances, equipment and lighting products via stringent and ambitious minimum energy performance standards and labeling requirements set according to the European Union’s Ecodesign and Energy Labeling Directives.
Technical Analysis CLASP’s Europe team focuses a significant portion of its programmatic efforts and resources on providing technical analysis in support of more stringent and ambitious Ecodesign and Energy Labelling requirements at the European level as well as analysis in support of more effective market transformation policies and monitoring, verification and enforcement measures at the Member State level.
In addition to its efforts to support the development of ambitious product regulations, CLASP’s Europe team also offers technical advice and analysis in support of improvement of the broader legislative framework and the evaluation of the Ecodesign Directive, the development of the European Commission’s Ecodesign Working Plan, and the revision of the methodology used for Ecodesign preparatory studies. CLASP seeks to strengthen ecodesign preparatory studies by building relationships with consultants and improve the technological stringency of studies by submitting comments directly to the Commission for ways to increase efficiency in the most cost effective ways.
