Making Appliance Energy Efficiency the New Global Standard

Global Information Dissemination

Global S&L information and knowledge sharing helps countries improve their energy efficiency knowledge base and expertise; sparks collaborations; educates policy makers; encourages technology transfer; and promotes the shared goal of increased global energy efficiency for appliances, lighting, and equipment and sustainable production and consumption.

CLASP accomplishes its global S&L program information dissemination goals through multiple channels including best practices workshops, summits and the CLASP website. The CLASP website is a destination and hub for global S&L information sharing.  Resources available on clasponline.org include the Global S&L Database, S&L Resource Library, S&L Guidebook, Policy Analysis Modeling System (PAMS), and the MV&E Guidebook.

Global S&L Database
CLASP's Global S&L Database is an online resource that allows policy makers and S&L practitioners to view and understand the legislative framework and history of S&L by country and economic region; compare policies and regulations across countries and by product; and explore specific information about those policies – level of stringency, dates implemented, etc.

S&L Resource Library
CLASP's S&L Resource Library is a virtual library where you can find every document (reports, presentations, books, proceedings, etc.) that is available on CLASP's website.

S&L Guidebook
CLASP's S&L Guidebook – A Standards & Labeling Guidebook for Appliances, Equipment, and Lighting – is available through clasponline.org in Chinese, English, Spanish, and Korean in book form by request or as a free download. The S&L Guidebook is designed as a manual for government officials and others around the world responsible for developing, implementing, enforcing, monitoring, and maintaining labeling and standards setting programs.

Policy Analysis Modeling System
CLASP's Policy Analysis Modeling System (PAMS) is an easy-to-use software tool designed to help local policymakers assess the benefit of standards and labeling programs as well as identify the most attractive targets for appliances and efficiency levels. PAMS includes basic modeling inputs for over 150 countries; can be used "out-of-the box" without additional research; and offers the ability for customization when country-specific data is available.

MV&E Guidebook
CLASP's MV&E Guidebook – Compliance Counts: A Practitioner's Guidebook on Best Practice Monitoring, Verification, and Enforcement for Appliance Standards & Labeling – provides practical information on compliance frameworks based on the experiences of existing S&L programs and is designed as a manual for policy makers, program administrators, and others involved in the design and implementation of S&L programs worldwide.

CLASP provides these best practice resources at no cost to the global community. CLASP is committed to developing and sharing the best online tools and resources available for S&L practitioners globally.

Policy makers use CLASP's global S&L information resources in multiple ways including as a guide to replicating S&L successes; as a resource for planning S&L development and revision; as a source for comparative information on the effectiveness of regional S&L initiatives and MV&E programs; and as a source of information with which to educate regional stakeholders about global S&L.
